Canada is preparing to welcome world leaders once again this fall as Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand confirmed that the upcoming G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting will be held in the Niagara Region, Ontario, from November 11 to 12, 2025.
This marks the second time in 2025 that Canada will host the G7 foreign ministers under its presidency, following the earlier meeting in Charlevoix, Quebec, chaired by former Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly. The announcement, made by Global Affairs Canada, highlights Canada’s continued role in shaping global diplomacy during its G7 leadership year.
The upcoming meeting in Niagara will bring together top diplomats from the world’s most advanced economies to discuss pressing international challenges. Key topics on the agenda include global security, economic resilience, prosperity, and regional cooperation, building on outcomes from the G7 Leaders’ Summit held in Kananaskis, Alberta, in June.
Global Affairs Canada noted that the discussions will focus on strengthening international collaboration and developing coordinated G7 responses to emerging global issues. The gathering will serve as a follow-up to commitments made earlier in the year and is expected to set the stage for future policy coordination across member nations.
The G7, which includes Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Since its founding in 1975, the group has been a driving force for global peace, prosperity, and sustainable development, addressing issues ranging from climate change to geopolitical stability.
The decision to host the meeting in the Niagara Region reflects both the symbolic and strategic value of the area. Known for its breathtaking natural beauty and rich history, Niagara offers an ideal backdrop for diplomatic dialogue. The region’s strong infrastructure, hospitality industry, and security readiness make it well-suited for hosting high-level international events.
Local officials and residents are expected to welcome the gathering, which will bring increased global attention and economic activity to the region. The meeting will also feature bilateral discussions, media briefings, and opportunities for ministers to engage on shared global priorities.
With 2025 marking a year of major international engagement, Canada’s G7 presidency underscores its commitment to advancing global stability, democratic governance, and economic cooperation. Hosting the G7 Leaders’ Summit in Kananaskis, followed by ministerial meetings in Charlevoix and Niagara, positions Canada as a central convener of dialogue among like-minded nations.
The Niagara meeting will close a landmark year of diplomacy for Canada, bringing together voices from across the G7 to reinforce collective action on global challenges. It is expected to further strengthen Canada’s reputation as a champion of multilateral cooperation and peacebuilding.
