
On Friday 15th July 2022, the National Youth Commission with support from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) launched the training of 150 Youth Businesses in Entrepreneurship and Business Plan Development.

UNDP is supporting National Youth Commission (NAYCOM) to empower the youth to develop their potential, creativity and skills for national development through the Youth Employment and Empowerment Programme (YEEP).
YEEP is under the UNDP Country Programme (2020-2023) as part of the Sustainable and Local Economic Development cluster. This portfolio project has been developed to support Government efforts while working with other partners to create economic opportunities, improve livelihoods and create employment opportunities especially for youth, women and PWDs.

YEEP is designed to strengthen national policy, strategy and coordination frameworks for youth employment and establish, on a national basis, support services for youth including Business Development Support and Youth Career Advice all geared towards improving the employability of youth.
The objective of the training is to support business expansion, growth, profitability and job creation for 150 youth led Small Enterprises through Business Development Services. The support will enhance interactive learning platform to train young entrepreneurs in Entrepreneurship, Business Technical Skills that will ultimately translate into improved efficiency and productivity.

It will also help to rekindle the entrepreneurial spirit of the youths, establish a business incubation and growth program and empower youth to successfully develop an effective innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem where innovative entrepreneurs can flourish. This will involve business skills training including coaching, mentoring and support the development and pitching of Youth Business Plans and linking of viable business plans with Financial Institutions for funding.
