Travellers and commercial drivers crossing the Canada–United States border at four Alberta ports of entry will see changes to operating hours beginning November 1, as the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) adjusts its schedule following the province’s move to permanent daylight saving time.
The changes will affect the Aden, Carway, Del Bonita and Wild Horse border crossings, with revised hours remaining in effect until March 14, 2027.
According to the CBSA, the adjustments are necessary to keep Canadian border operations aligned with neighbouring U.S. ports of entry, which will continue observing seasonal clock changes.
Alberta’s decision to maintain daylight saving time throughout the year means the province will no longer change its clocks in the spring and fall. However, the United States will continue switching between standard time and daylight saving time, creating a seasonal time difference that requires adjustments to border operating schedules.
The CBSA said coordinating operating hours on both sides of the border will help prevent disruptions for travellers and commercial vehicles, particularly when individuals are denied entry into one country and must immediately return to the other.
The agency also expects the changes to provide greater clarity about when border services are available.

Beginning November 1, the four affected ports of entry will operate on the following schedules, expressed in Mountain Time:
Aden Border Crossing
The Aden crossing will be open to travellers daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Commercial processing will be available during the same hours, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
Carway Border Crossing
Carway will operate from 8 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week, for both travellers and commercial traffic.
Del Bonita Border Crossing
Travellers using Del Bonita will be able to cross daily between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Commercial services will operate from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
Wild Horse Border Crossing
Wild Horse will process travellers daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Commercial traffic will be accommodated between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
What Travellers Need to Know
The revised schedules will take effect at 2 a.m. Mountain Time on November 1, 2026, and remain in place until 2 a.m. on March 14, 2027.
Travellers planning to cross the border outside the revised operating hours are encouraged to identify alternative ports of entry before departing.
The CBSA says it continues to coordinate with emergency services in Canada and the United States to ensure emergency personnel can cross the international border when necessary, including outside regular operating hours.
The changes are administrative and are intended to maintain coordination between Canadian and American border facilities rather than expand or reduce border services.
For businesses involved in cross-border transportation, the revised schedules may require adjustments to delivery times, shipment planning and travel arrangements, particularly at crossings where commercial processing is unavailable on weekends or holidays.
Alberta shares a lengthy international border with Montana, making its land ports of entry important connections for residents, businesses, agricultural producers and commercial transportation operators.
The CBSA advises travellers and transport companies to confirm operating hours before arriving at a crossing to avoid unnecessary delays.
Travellers can find information about alternative border crossings and their operating hours through the CBSA’s official directory of ports of entry.
