All 54 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Member Associations have unanimously endorsed Gianni Infantino for re-election as FIFA President for the term 2027–2031.
The decision was made during a meeting on Wednesday, April 29th, 2026, in Vancouver, Canada, chaired by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, on the eve of the 76th FIFA Congress.
The CAF Member Associations unanimously agreed to support Gianni Infantino to be re-elected as President of FIFA for the period 2027-2031.
The 76th FIFA Congress will take place in Vancouver, Canada on 30 April 2026, as announced by FIFA President Gianni Infantino at the 75th Congress in Paraguay in May 2025. The FIFA Congress will bring together representatives of all 211 member associations in Canada which will be hosting the FIFA Congress for the second time having previously been held in Montréal in 1976.
Gianni Infantino has been FIFA President since February 26th, 2016 succeeding Sepp Blatter. He was re-elected unopposed in 2019 and again in 2023 in Kigali, Rwanda by acclamation for the term running until 2027.
FIFA statutes limit the President to a maximum of three four-year terms (12 years total). However, Infantino’s initial period, completing the remainder of Blatter’s term, about 39 monthswas ruled not to count as a full term. This interpretation allows him to potentially serve until 2031 if re-elected in 2027, effectively up to 15 years in total.
Infantino’s leadership has been marked by significant revenue growth for FIFA and increased financial support flowing to member associations and confederations.
FIFA has seen massive financial increases, largely driven by World Cup cycles. The organization recently announced a record $871 million distribution to the 48 participating teams at the 2026 World Cup co-hosted by USA, Canada, Mexico. Projections for the 2027–2030 cycle reach around $14 billion in revenue.
The 76th FIFA Congress is taking place today April 30th, 2026in Vancouver. The agenda includes budgets, auditor reports, and remarks from Infantino. However, the next FIFA Presidential election is scheduled for the 77th FIFA Congress in 2027 in Rabat, Morocco.
