The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Disciplinary Board has imposed a series of sanctions on the Fédération Sénégalaise de Football (FSF), the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF), as well as several players and officials, following incidents that occurred during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 final.

In a statement released on Wednesday, CAF said the sanctions were issued after the Disciplinary Board found that actions during the final violated provisions of the CAF Disciplinary Code, including principles of fair play, integrity, and conduct that brought the game into disrepute.
Sanctions against Senegal
Regarding the Fédération Sénégalaise de Football, the CAF Disciplinary Board imposed multiple sporting and financial penalties.

CAF announced the suspension of Senegal national team head coach Pape Bouna Thiaw for five official CAF matches due to what it described as “unsporting conduct in violation of the CAF Disciplinary Code principles of fair play and integrity and for bringing the game into disrepute.” Thiaw was also fined USD 100,000.
Two Senegalese players were sanctioned for their conduct toward match officials. Iliman Cheikh Baroy Ndiaye and Ismaila Sarr were each suspended for two official CAF matches for unsporting behaviour towards the referee.
The Senegalese federation itself was fined a total of USD 615,000. CAF fined FSF USD 300,000 for the improper conduct of its supporters, which it said brought the game into disrepute. An additional USD 300,000 fine was imposed for the unsporting conduct of Senegal’s players and technical staff, which CAF said violated principles of fair play, loyalty, and integrity. A further USD 15,000 fine was issued after five Senegal players received cautions during the match.
Sanctions against Morocco
The CAF Disciplinary Board also sanctioned the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football and several members of the Moroccan national team.

Morocco defender Achraf Hakimi was suspended for two official CAF matches for unsporting behaviour, with one of those matches suspended for a period of one year from the date of the decision.
Midfielder Ismaël Saibari received a three-match suspension for unsporting behaviour and was fined USD 100,000.
The Moroccan federation was fined USD 200,000 for what CAF described as the inappropriate behaviour of stadium ball boys during the final. CAF also fined FRMF USD 100,000 for the improper conduct of Moroccan players and technical staff who invaded the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review area and obstructed the referee’s work, citing violations of Articles 82 and 83 of the CAF Disciplinary Code.
In addition, FRMF was fined USD 15,000 for the use of lasers by its supporters during the match.
Protest rejected
CAF also addressed a protest filed by the Moroccan federation following the final. The Disciplinary Board rejected a complaint lodged by FRMF alleging violations by the Fédération Sénégalaise de Football of Articles 82 and 84 of the Regulations of the Africa Cup of Nations.

According to CAF, the protest related to alleged breaches during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 final and was dismissed in its entirety.
CAF did not indicate whether any of the sanctioned parties intend to appeal the decisions.
