The start of a New Year is a time for reflection, renewal, and, most importantly, kindness. This January 1st, the 26th Chinese medical team to Sierra Leone chose to ring in 2026 by giving back to the community they serve.
In a heartwarming gesture of international friendship, the team visited the Saint George Foundation Children’s Welfare Institute in Freetown to provide essential supplies and healthcare support to children in need.
Brightening the New Year with Essential Supplies. For the children at Saint George Foundation, the holiday was made extra special by the arrival of the medical team, who brought much-needed resources to improve daily life at the institute. The donation included Rice, bread, cooking oil, new clothing for the children, Schoolbags and stationery to support their learning journey.
Liu Longfei, head of the medical team, emphasised that this mission is about more than just physical goods. During the visit, he shared a vision for the children’s future, expressing his hope that they would grow up to become the “successors in building Sierra Leone and the inheritors of China-Sierra Leone friendship.”
This sentiment was echoed by Justina Zainab Conteh, the Executive Director of the Saint George Foundation. She expressed deep gratitude for the consistent support provided by both the medical team and the Chinese government, noting how vital these contributions are for the welfare of the children.
