Liverpool have reached a £125 million agreement with Newcastle United to sign Sweden international Alexander Isak, sources close to the deal have confirmed to BBC Sport.
The 25-year-old striker is expected to undergo a medical on Monday before signing a six-year contract at Anfield, bringing an end to Liverpool’s summer-long pursuit of their top transfer target.
The Reds had an initial £110 million bid rejected earlier this month, but talks resumed in recent days and a breakthrough was reached over the weekend. The final fee makes Isak one of the most expensive signings in Premier League history and the most expensive in Liverpool’s history.
Isak enjoyed a stellar season with Newcastle, scoring 21 Premier League goals and attracting interest from several top European clubs. However, Liverpool moved decisively to secure his signature as part of their squad rebuild under manager Arne Slot.
The signing is expected to significantly boost Liverpool’s attacking options, with Isak seen as a long-term replacement for Darwin Núñez, whose future at the club remains uncertain.
Further updates are expected following the completion of his medical early next week.
