The High Court of Sierra Leone has issued an injunction barring the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) from proceeding with its Ordinary Congress, originally scheduled for November 30, 2024.
The injunction comes in response to a legal action filed by Tamba G. Gbetuwa, Chairman of the Moyamba District Football Association, who raised concerns about the congress. While the specific details of the grievances remain undisclosed, the court’s decision underscores the gravity of the issues raised.
In compliance with the court order, the SLFA has suspended the congress until the matter is resolved in court. The association’s legal team has stated that it is taking the necessary steps to address the case and ensure compliance with judicial directives.

The SLFA, in a public statement, reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and adherence to the law. It assured stakeholders that the congress would proceed once legal hurdles are cleared, with a new date to be announced in due course.
“We appreciate the patience and understanding of all our stakeholders during this challenging period,” the SLFA said.
This development comes at a critical time for Sierra Leone football, with the congress seen as pivotal for decision-making within the sport’s governing body. The case now awaits a court hearing to determine the way forward.
